The Mandela Day  Service Grant is approaching, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2024 Mandela Day Service Grant (MDSG). This grant aims to support short-term service projects that contribute to lasting community development, aligning with the foundation’s vision of making every day a Mandela Day. Overview:

The Mandela Day Service Grant provides a unique opportunity for up to six Fellowship Alumni (or Alumni teams) to receive funding of up to $1,000 each. This financial support is dedicated to implementing short-term community service or volunteer projects in honor of Mandela Day, fostering ongoing volunteerism throughout the year.

 

WOMEN TECHSTERS COHORT 3.3 BOOTCAMP 2024 FOR YOUNG AFRICAN WOMEN.

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for the MDSG, contestants will be evaluated based on:

  1. Potential for Leadership Success: Showcase your academic and professional background, relevant skills, and a demonstrated passion for community development.
  2. Focus on Sustainable Community Development: Highlight a short-term project that contributes to sustainable community development initiatives, aligning with the foundation’s mission.
  3. Potential for Project Success: Convey the viability of your project through a well-articulated concept note, a detailed proposed budget, and evidence of proposed collaborations.

Timeline:

  • January 8-29: Application period is open.
  • March: Selected projects will be announced.
  • April 1 – May 31: Alumni will implement their projects.
  • June 7: MDSG Project reports, including video recordings, are due.
  • June 12-21: Refinement of recordings (if coaching and editing is required).
  • July 31 – August 2: Summit Showcase and Social Media Campaign celebrating Fellows’ “Mandela Day” activities.
