The World Cinema Fund (WCF) is excited to announce the opening of applications for its 2024 Africa Program, a unique opportunity in collaboration with the German Federal Foreign Office. Eligibility Criteria
The call is open to:
- Film production companies from sub-Saharan Africa regions, collaborating with a director from the same region or country.
- Registered film production companies in Germany proving a working relationship with a sub-Saharan African director.
- Registered film production companies in other EU member states with a branch or place of business in Germany, showcasing a working relationship with a director from sub-Saharan Africa.

Program Details
Maximum Funding: €40,000 for post-production. Total Production Costs: Projects should range between €200,000 and €1,400,000. Utilization: Funding must be spent on post-production in the specified regions. Contractual Partner: The German partner is the contractual partner. Expenditure Report: Final expenditure reports must be delivered by October 2024.
Submission Process
Two submission processes occur annually:
- First Submission: Deadline at the end of February/beginning of March; jury meetings in late June/early July.
- Second Submission: Deadline in July; jury meetings in early November.
Submission Requirements
Documents to Attach:
- Financing Information:
- Financing Plan in Euros and local currency (if available).
- Budget details in Euros and local currency.
- Contracts, agreements, and letters of intent from confirmed financing partners.
- Rights Transfer:
- Document or contract transferring screenwriting rights to the producer.
- Artistic/Visual Concept:
- Mood board, casting, locations, editing, and narrative concept.
- Rough Cut:
- Password-protected link with English or French subtitles.
