STARTS4AFRICA RESIDENCY PROGRAMME

The STARTS4AFRICA Residency Programme invites you to be part of a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering art-driven innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa. In collaboration with four African countries – Senegal, Ghana, Tanzania, and Nigeria – STARTS4AFRICA is offering 6-month residencies to address regional challenges across various themes. Are you an artist or part of an artistic collective with a passion for driving innovation at the intersection of Science, Technology, and Arts (STARTS)?

Eligibility Criteria:

The call for proposals is open to individual artists or artistic teams with previous experience, either nationals of STARTS4AFRICA-covered countries (DR Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Tanzania) or permanent residents in any Sub-Saharan African nation. Additionally, artistic teams with a mix of European and Sub-Saharan African artists are encouraged to apply.

Residency Programme Details:

Selected applicants will embark on a 6-month residency starting in March 2024, with multiple exhibitions and events scheduled throughout the residency period until November 2024. The programme includes a budget of up to €35,000 to cover artist fees, exhibition/event participation, and other project-related costs. Participants will also have access to resources and facilities provided by the Residency Host Institution, benefit from a mentoring programme, and join the Europe-wide S+T+ARTS network.

Expected Outputs from Artists:

Application Procedure:

The application consists of administrative information, declarations, an artistic proposal, curriculum vitae, and a portfolio.
